Battle of Arras 1940 History:

The Battle of Arras (France) was a battle (counter attack) fought between German forces and the Allies during World War II. The fighting took place on May 21st 1940 as a group of British and French tanks attempted a counterattack against the German panzers. At first the Germans were panicked and retreated, however, after dark the allies were forced to retreat to avoid encirclement. Ultimately, a decisive German victory resulted in the fall of France and many Allied casualties, particularly British Commonwealth forces.

Not the best Cobi kit I’ve done. If I could give a 3.5, I would; but, this is probably the most disappointing Cobi kit I’ve purchased and can’t bring myself to give it a 4. That said, it’s still decent, it’s just hard to say that it’s on par with the other kits I’ve made.
The Matilda was missing a part (understandable given that it’s brand new production, and bugs will exist, and Cobi replaces missing pieces in about a week); but, the lack of detail versus the 1/28 scale kits, and the exhaust system on the Matilda is a bit fiddly and can fall apart when you touch it. The gun on the panzer doesn’t elevate, and while the 1/35 scale kits are supposed to be more in line with the scale of the figures, it doesn’t have open areas in the hatches to pose figures on it. The only 1/35 kit I’ve done has been the Mark V World War I tank, and if this is indicative of the line, I’ll be sticking with the 1/28 scale.

I passed on getting the older Cobi version of the Matilda II as the Tank Museum paint scheme was a bit gaudy. This olive drab version fits better with the other British Commonwealth tanks in the 1/35 scale series (Cromwell, Sherman Firefly, Valentine, Churchill). I don’t generally collect Axis vehicles but the Pz38t is sufficiently obscure to make an exception. Nice models: hopefully Cobi will produce a universal (Bren) carrier or even a Matilda I or Light Tank Mark VI!

I’ll give warbricks 5 stars for fast service and delivery. But for this set I’m giving it a 4 out of 5 stars, they are both unique sets, tanks not talked about much. They were fun builds and look great next to a minifigure. I’m giving it 4 stars, because both tanks offer no space to place a mini-figure in the turret. It also would have been great if Cobi had offered mini-figures in the set, that was disappointing. I recently ventured into Cobi’s 1:35 scale and despite the lack of mini-figure space and the mini-figures themselves, I would still recommend this set to someone.
