History of the COBI Tiger I No. 007 and The Death of German Tank Ace Michael Wittmann on August 8, 1944.:
Michael Wittmann, the legendary German Panzer Ace known for his 139 tank kills, met his end on August 8, 1944, during the Battle of Normandy. Pressed for time in the Falaise Pocket, Wittmann, along with three other Tigers, was ordered to counterattack the advancing British forces. As they moved north, they were unaware of the British tanks waiting in ambush in the orchards. A Firefly tank commanded by Sergeant Gordon engaged the Tigers, taking advantage of their exposed side armor. Despite the Tigers’ deadly 88mm cannon, the Firefly managed to destroy a Tiger, possibly Wittmann’s tank, leading to his death in the battle.
The British tank ambush from the orchards caught Wittmann and his crew by surprise, as they continued their advance unaware of the danger lurking nearby. The Firefly’s powerful 17-pounder cannon proved to be effective against the Tigers, especially when targeting their thinner side armor. As the German tanks moved within range, the Firefly engaged them, potentially resulting in the destruction of Wittmann’s tank. The intense battle and swift actions of the British tankers led to the demise of the famed Panzer Ace, ending his impressive kill streak in World War II.
The debate over who killed Michael Wittmann continues to this day, with conflicting accounts and theories surrounding his death in the Battle of Normandy. Despite his reputation as a skilled tank commander with numerous kills to his name, Wittmann’s final moments in combat remain shrouded in mystery. The ambush from the British Firefly tank, coupled with the chaotic circumstances of the battle, ultimately led to the downfall of the legendary Panzer Ace, leaving a lasting legacy in the annals of World War II history.

I pre-ordered this product! From start to finish Warbricks had an ETA of shipment time for the pre-order and fulfilled on established commitments. The order arrived within two days, which is surprising because I live across the country from Billings (where Warbricks is based). The order was packaged sufficiently with no damage, and had a nice handwritten note with the order sheet. All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchase!

Great kit! Rewarding to see the detail in the finished Tiger. Question is? 1/12 scale next for me? I yet to build my 1/12 131 Tiger, but the ambush camo is great in the latest Tigers.
Great service as usual!

Another beautiful rendition of the legendary German Tiger tank from WW2 by Cobi. I highly recommend this set for its historical importance. Tiger Tank 007 was the last tank commanded by the tank ace Michael Wittmann.
This set pairs nicely next to the recent Wirbelwind and other recent sets of similar camouflage. 🙂

Latest addition to my 1:28 Tiger collection – now have five different versions! Really enjoyed this build – looks great in camo.

Another instant winner! The nicely done color camo pattern is head-and-shoulders better than the old beige Afrika Korps color scheme model that I had (Cobi 2556 or maybe earlier than that), which blends in too well with my tan/beige wall color where I had the old model displayed. This one has color that pops and looks a lot more visually striking. Turret’s interior detail is great too! Well done.

Excellent build. High quality products with super fast shipping.

Adding another Tiger to the collection was an easy choice. Great detail and love the access to the inside of the tank. I wished it had the machine-gun mount like the 1/12 and 1/35 scale does

Excellent build. Great detail, love the removable turret and interior.
Especially loved the redesigned road wheels and track system. Rolls really well, no snags or track separations.
Josh Frailey (verified owner) –
Great fun to build. The tracks were easier to build than some smaller tank sets.

Great set as always, can’t wait for the new Panther.
